Psalm 23:2-3 NKJV
[2] He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. [3] He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
Good Morning!
When life feels overwhelming and you are being “attacked” from all sides, remember the words of David is Psalm 23, “He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul…”
For many years David was running for his life being pursued by Saul and then later in life being pursued by his own son, Absalom, who were both trying to kill him. But David was a man after God’s own heart and he knew that God would protect him and take him to a place of peace and restoration for his soul.
Today, we can learn from David’s experiences. We may not have people pursuing our lives to kill us, but we have many other obstacles and challenges that we face. If David could trust The Lord to lead him to still waters in his circumstances, then we too can trust in The Lord to deliver us, lead us, guide us and show us to our own still waters so that our souls can be restored. God simply asks for a “man after His own heart” and He will do the rest.
1 Samuel 13:14a NKJV
The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart…
When we become men and women after God’s own heart, there is so much that God can do with our lives. If we are willing to give over to Him our wants and desires and ask Him to place His wants and desires for our lives in us, then we become “after His own heart.” As we do this, we’ll see the benefits that God will bestow upon us. We will have favor and be able to walk in victory, no matter what our circumstances.
Proverbs 3:4 NLT
[4] Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
Psalm 103:2 NKJV
[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
As we voyage through this life, remember that, as followers of Christ, we are just pilgrims traveling through to our real destination. We run this race for the eternal prize that God has for all that run. There is not just one winner, but all who run the race win. It is for us to bring others into the race to pilgrimage with us, thus doing what Jesus asked us to do, to go and make disciples who then will make disciples.
1 Corinthians 9:25 NLT
[25] All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV
[19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
So when life gets you down or feels overwhelming, take a step back. Try to look at life with the “big picture” in mind. Take the 10,000 foot view, not just the view from the trenches that we live in day-to-day. This will give you perspective of what is really important.
The STILL WATERS of God are STILL keeping our souls refreshed.
I love you and am praying for you today!
