Psalm 119:57 NKJV
[57] You are my portion, O LORD; I have said that I would keep Your words.
Good Morning!
One of the definitions of “portion” is: to provide with a lot or fate. The NEV (New European Version) of the Bible translates the above verse like this, “The LORD is my source of security. I have determined to follow your instructions.”
To have God as our portion is really an amazing thing. God first chose us as His sons and daughters, making us co-heirs with Christ as we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. As the source of our security and our portion, we can take each day knowing that our Heavenly Father is with us, providing for us, letting us enjoy this life and inspiring us to encourage others to do the same.
Our whole identity can (and should) be wrapped up in the knowledge of Him as our source and our strength. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The joy of The Lord is our strength, and our portion is of The Lord who is our redeemer, our foundation, the first and the last and forevermore will be.
Philippians 4:13 NKJV
[13] I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Nehemiah 8:10b NKJV
“…for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Revelation 22:13 NKJV
[13] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Living each day with God as our portion is simply just yielding to Him, giving our lives as a sacrifice of praise. Doing good and letting our fruits be known by our actions is what God wants of us. He is pleased with us when we make Him first in our lives and follow His commands, trusting in Him and leaning not on our own understanding.
Hebrews 13:15-16 NKJV
[15] Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. [16] But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
[5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
As we let God direct our paths, be ready and willing to yield to whatever direction He gives you. If He is our portion, we will not be disappointed. We will not need to worry or stress about what is next for our future. He has our future in His hands. He knows the end of our story and is the author and finisher of all things. He is with us and for us.
I love you and am praying for you today!
