Ephesians 4:4-6 AMPC
[4] [There is] one body and one Spirit-just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received- [5] [There is] one Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6] One God and Father of [us] all, Who is above all [Sovereign over all], pervading all and [living] in [us] all.
Good Morning!
God is sovereign and above all! That is the good news! When we look at circumstances, we easily go into panic mode. Our minds are not capable of knowing His understanding. He is above all circumstances, all that lives, all that breathes, all that is.
Isaiah 40:28b NLT
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He Fills The Universe
According to Wikipedia, the observable universe is 93 billion light years in diameter. That is only what we can see and we can’t even fathom what is beyond that. Ephesians tells us that when Jesus died and rose again, He ascended into heaven so that He might fill the entire universe with Himself. Just think about how large the universe is for a moment, and Jesus, the son of God and part of the Trinity of God, fills the universe. That is certainly BIG and above all! 🤯 Our lives and circumstances are puny and seem insignificant in comparison. But not so. Read on…
Ephesians 4:10 NLT
[10] And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that He might fill the entire universe with Himself.
We Are Not Insignificant
Even though God is so big and so powerful and above all of creation in this world and the entire universe, He knows us personally and takes special care of each and every one of us. Jesus told us that He has even numbered the very hairs on our head. This is how intimately He knows us and cares for us. He knit us together in our mother’s womb and made us wonderfully complex and breathed life into our souls.
He knows His sheep (that’s us). As our Good Shepherd leads us, we are to follow Him without worry and to trust in Him knowing that He is there to comfort us. As the famous Psalm 23 tells us, we may walk through the shadow of death, but He still leads us and is taking us to goodness and mercy where we will dwell in the house of The Lord forever.
Matthew 10:30 NIV
[30] And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Psalm 139:13-14 NLT
[13] You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. [14] Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it.
Acts 17:25b NIV
He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.
John 10:14 NKJV
[14] I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
Our Stronghold, Strength, Fortress and Horn of Salvation
The prophet, Nahum, and David, a writer of many of the Psalms, so eloquently tell us how God is our deliverer and our fortress in times of trouble. They had no idea when writing these words, how significant they would be in today’s current environment. Nothing takes God by surprise.
We must take refuge in knowing that God IS sovereign and His plan is going to lead His sheep into eternity with Him. He waits patiently for all that are called to be His sheep to repent and open the door to their hearts to let Him in. He is the horn of salvation that was prophesied since the world began, guiding our feet into the way of peace.
Nahum 1:7 NKJV
[7] The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.
Psalm 18:2 NKJV
[2] The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 91:1-2 NKJV
[1] He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Luke 1:69-70,79 NKJV
[69] And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David, [70] As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began, [79] To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Revelation 3:20 NIV
[20] Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Let us take comfort in knowing that God is above all. He knows and cares for all of mankind intimately and He waits patiently for His children to open the door to their hearts.
I love you and am praying for you today!
