2 Corinthians 6:16-18 NLT
[16] And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. [17] Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. [18] And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty. “
Good Morning!
Yesterday we discussed how God’s Spirit works. Today I wanted to share where God’s Spirit lives. When we surrender our lives to God and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He sends His Holy Spirit to live in us and we surely become the temple of God.
In the Old Testament, the Temple was reserved for those that were high priests that God ordained and could only enter into the holy temple if they were of this order. The temple was shrouded with a curtain so that only the high priest could enter into it. But the moment that Jesus died on the cross, the Bible tells us that the curtain of the sanctuary was torn from top to bottom. No longer was the temple the only place where the high priests could enter. From then on, the temple became the church — not the church building, but the people of the church of Christ Followers.
Matthew 27:50-51 NLT
[50] Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. [51] At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart…
2000 years later, the Church still lives on vivaciously and is ever-expanding as the disciples of God (us) keep spreading the beautiful Word of God’s saving Grace. God’s temple therefore keeps growing and one day Jesus will return to call all of His own home to be with him everlasting in paradise. In the meantime, we are to treat our bodies with reverence as the Holy Spirit indwells within us. We are to live as sons and daughters of the Lord Almighty and surely be the temple He wants us to be.
I love you and am praying for you today!
